My mare has a HUGE head, her bridle is xtra-full - any ideas where i can get a flymask with nose cover (pink nose!) from - white mesh preferably as someone told me you cant leave black mesh ones on at night?!

The XL Equilibrium Field Masks are excellent. And very very huge as well. I wouldn't recommend leaving any fly mask on through the night though. Ours are taken off each evening and put back on early the next morning.

I have several of the shires ones with a nose, they seem to come up pretty big. I bought a full size one which was way too big for any of mine. I hope that's not true about the black mesh masks, all mine stay on all night regardless of colour!

According to Pedantic, cutting up a pair of really fine nylon tights and stretching that over the bridle is really good. apparently it works better than most fly nets and is also really cheap! Plus, you can cut them to size and I doubt your horse's nose is going to be too big for that :) Also, several nets out of one pair!

ETS; Oh wait, sorry, that's just a nose net. My mistake, sorry!!! xx

My boy has a huge ID X clyde head and he is in x full bridle. He has the Equlibrium x large fly mask which fits him really well. My daughters clydesdale used to where a Cashel Crusader draft size mask although the nose shield bit was a bit long and became worn away as she grazed.

Another vote for the cashel.

fits my xfull elephant - most of the other makes came to his nostrils - or thin material that lasted a hour or so !

I've got the legacy fly mask for my mare, they come with or without the nose. I tried loads of different brands and this one fits perfect. I leave it on at night, the flies were terrible at 7am yesterday morning, the ones that didn't have masks on were desperate to come in.

Cashel Crusader - I use the Warmblood size on Cairo and now Farra but they have smallish heads - XF bridles. I did buy the draught size for Cairo, but it was too bit for him so gave it to a local charity for their very large shire.

They have ears and a nose cover, UV protection, very soft and mine wear them 24 x 7 from May to October and they last several years and I think they are the best you can buy.

I'm awaiting delivery of the warmblood size for my bucket head ID, following your advice. Just hope it fits! Didn't go for the draught size as I thought if it fit an 18h shire, surely it would be too big for him, worried now....

The draught is seriously huge - I was amazed when I saw it and it was far too big on the clydesdales - but we only have smaller ones - 16.3 with standard XF bridles. The draught is for those with XXF plus sized heads.

Most places will change the size if you ask them to.

Lol ceebee, "bucket head ID"!!

I have a ginormous one I don't need I was going to sell, if I can find it??

Don't worry, I won't be gunning for you if it doesn't fit :D

I checked on the Cashel size chart and the Warmblood nose length is 26" - that is huge! But the Draught size is 29"! That is one almighty big nose!

Just a quick update - my Warmblood size Cashel Crusader turned up and fits Harvey perfectly! He has a massive head, so unless your horse really is an elephant, the XXF will be too big!
And thanks Theresa for the advice :)
