flys and midges etc...

My house and stable are right next to a running stream so obviously there is alot of midges, there was alot even before i had daphi here.

Anyway im sure i heard the other day on some website about a machine you can buy to keep midges and flys away! has anybody got one, or know where i can buy them? and if they are any good! those bloody midges drive me insane...and daphi! I use a good midge and fly spray but if i could eliminate them all together with this machine it would be heaven! Sick of being bitten and itching my head like i have nits!!!!! and daphi is sick of them biting her ass! LOL

I haven't heard of this machine but I'll be watching the replies as I hate midges!

This might get laughed at or shot down but when we used to live in a midge infested area we used to use net curtains over the stables to give the horses some respite!

I have also just bought a bulk order of Avon skin So Soft on Ebay

ahhh april now i heard just last week about avon cream!!! I thought they was joking so disregarding the suggestion!


does it actually work? is it for you or the horse? or both?

Totally works!

Marines use it when they are on exercise up here in West Scotland.

I use it on me and the horse - but as with everything make sure you do a small patch test incase Daphi takes a reaction to it

Hmmm just logged onto the site that sell these "MIDGE magnets" they seem quite pricey at £500 ish.... But its something i might get next month .... Because i cant think of anything worse than these bloody midges!!!

One of my horses reacts quite badly to midge bites. I put a few of these up and it did seem to make a bit of a difference along with loads of good old fashioned fly paper in the barn - you can bulk order on e-bay! If the link doesn't work google 'red tops flies'.

Oh, and yes, we cover him in skin so soft too!!

i put fly strips up in my horses stable and soak them in fly spray!
