The BBC News website has an article on the cancellation of the British Horse Driving Trials Assoc. National Championships, which has had to be cancelled due to the latest FMD outbreak.

The Championships have been moved to Catton Park in Derbyshire (venue for the World Championships in 2005) for next weekend.

The BHDTA estimates it will have lost £20,000 over the crisis.

But Catton will do an excellent job and hopefully it will be a boost to those driving competitors and enthusiasts who would prefer Catton to be the venue in years to come.

Thank you Catton Hall!

The BHDTA is not fit for purpose. It only represents the rich/overly-dedicated in the sport, and not the majority of those involved. To say it's the governing body of the sport in the UK means that many of those who participate are disenfranshised. The clubs should take over and form a federation, IMO!
