Nitty is absolutely hobbling after having a rather radical trim on Saturday. All four feet. She's in and has had some bute and is much happier on the soft. She was instantly footy when I put her out after she'd had it done but I thought she'd get better rather than worse. Stupid rock solid hard ground! And yes, I know she shouldn't have sore feet just from a trim and there is probably an underlying issue, so please don't jump on me!

I really can not do right for doing wrong at the moment :( That's both of my horses well and truly off games. I don't really mind the not riding but I feel lousy for them that I have mismanaged them to the point they are both stuck in their boxes :(

I'd sell but I'm pretty sure there isn't a market for crippled lame, bolshy youngsters. Any takers?

ETS: sorry, that is a really ridiculously over the top thread title. I do apologise. Obviously it isn't that bad and plenty of people have it worse than me!

I do feel you pain, frustration and despair. Horses can really break your heart and the list of injuries that Nitty has had is very unlucky. Lots of good luck must be due to be coming your way soon. :D

Oh no! Sending massive *hugs*. Assuming you're working, but if not and you (or any other locals) want a day of staring jealously at other people beautiful sound horses i'm thinking of heading to Burnham market to watch/take pics on thurs. :) Give Nitts and BH lots of carrots from me.

That is most unfortunate :( poor nitty. Likewise, if you want a ride, you're welcome to j! Hope things pick up for you soon. Two on box rest is just awful

Thanks all.

dh- how did you get on? Was yellow pone a good boy. I'm actually not even that fussed to ride, have lost all enthusiasm for it. Just wish I could fling them both out and have a bit of a rest. But apparently it isn't to be!!

Nitty will be fine, she's got LGL and the trim and hard ground have just shown it up. Couple of days off the grass and she'll be fine. Will just pen her away from the grass and feed her hay until it dies off a bit!

ETS: this makes me sound incredibly negligent about her feet but she really isn't that bad. If she had shoes on I'd never notice it ( ie, they'll be loads out there just the same as her right now but no one will ever know because they're shod, if you see what I mean?)

V- I'll be at work unless I'm at the vets, what a rock n roll life.

I think I might beg the vet to come to us this time. The run of it I'm having I don't think I dare try and put BH on the trailer. He'll probably tear up the other leg refusing to load. Plus then they can cast an eye over Nits at the same time!

Sorry, loads of extra!

Love you all for the amazing sympathy :)

er why on earth was it such a radical trim?! If she wasnt sore on all 4 feet before the trim she shouldnt be after the trim. That sounds like horrendous over trimming.

I'm there at the moment with my cob mare!! She's hobbling around after having her front shoes off on thursday, she's now retired to the field. She won't stay in either.....I am managing her on some bute and she is bright and eating well and better today, so I just have to keep an eye on her and keep the bute going as needed. But we are probably looking at a week or two for her to adjust to her soles and frog touching the ground after years and years of having been shod.

Radical because I had let her feet get too long :( In fairness what came off looks like a perfectly normal amount of foot to come off a perfectly normal horse, she has just reacted really badly to it. My fault entirely :(

TFF- why are you naffed off? Is big fuzzy still not right?

You know you can always send Nitty to me....;)

ETA: sympathies from me too, sorry very shattered after PUK yesterday - I am TOO OLD to camp in the back of a horsebox on a blow up mattress these days :(

You really can have her. I will obviously fix her first. I feel so demoralised by it all at the moment and she'd never sell as she is so covered in lumps and bumps.

I feel totally backed into a corner. I was genuinely thinking about getting rid of at least one, if not both, and now I'm just stuck with them for the forseeable future. Boo hoo.

Did you win at least? :)

I didn't win - it was the grey pony's first away show (only third showing show ever) and she was fab at dealing with it (sorry, not trying to make you feel worse about not competing). She was 3rd and 7th and we did two evening performances but I wish I had only done the second one as two was one too many and possibly cost her a few places as it was the final judging for her 7th place. Here are some pics as well as one of my sleeping arrangements to cheer you up!

I feel for you, horses eh? If you were closer to Kent you'd be more than welcome to come and ride one of mine with me.

She looks just gorgeous. But then she always does! :) Although I bet you have fun keeping her clean :D

I don't mind not riding. Honestly. I'm not that much of a baby. I just feel sorry for my horses really. Makes me feel like a very mean mummy having them both locked up!

She's a stunner - well done! I don't envy the sleeping arrangements though!!

We loaded her at 2am and she looked pretty clean under the stable lights after a bit of cowboy magic....unloaded, started working her in at 6.30am still fine. By 7am in full daylight OMG pale brown stains all over - CHALK TIME! I can't wait til the brown one is ready to show haha.

I felt like a really bad mum looking at her tired little face this evening, I've never seen her look so shattered :(

ps - Nitty will fade too so you can have the same fun as me :D

She'll only be mentally tired don't worry. By the morning she'll be bouncing again :)

And I know  and Nitty is an absolute bog monster   I've never known a dirtier horse!

Just seen this. Sorry you're having bad luck Jess. If its any consolation my horse is lame, my work's horse (supposed to be for sale) is lame and the flipping oldies who everyone is waiting for to show signs of being ready to die are skipping around on the spring grass like two year olds.

I should just accept being a horse carer not rider. :p

Nail & head :( vet coming out to scan on Thurs, hoping swelling might have gone down by then. Part of my heart is saying she is going to be fine v soon, tho head is telling me this is a long haul box rest :(

You're in exactly the same position as me then. I'm just waiting for the vet to ring back to see when I can take his lordship in for a quick block/scan. I'd love them to say it's nothing but I know that what they're actually going to say is a year off proper work :( O well, at least we'll be in it together eh? We can compare box rest notes :)

I know I shouldn't laugh but this made me chuckle. It's exactly the sort of think I think but wouldn't dare say on here for fear of a flaming!

I hope at least one of yours comes right soon too. These creatures, they're nowt but a nuisance!

O, vet just been to see Nits btw. She'll live. She's very very foot sore and maybe a bit laminitisy but I knew that already.Vet chucked me some Danilon and told me to get on with it as I know what I'm doing. At least someone thinks I do. I'm not sure I think I do anymore!! :)

Oh damn! :( Poor you. I know how rubbish times like this feel. If there's anything I can do to help then let me know. xx
