FMM (I think ) and any other showing people (need opinions) .....

I definitely think he'd do well

This is a direct quote from a BSPS lead rein judge from another showing forum. Shows that the way of going is really important so if your pony manages to go in the correct way, then you should have a go at lead rein. Sweet pony - would be nice to have a slightly straighter cut saddle to show the pony's shoulder off a bit more, but providing he is the right height, then have a go!

"I like my winning ponies can carry themselves and are not being pulled in and "fixed" by knotted reins used as a form of side rein. I look to see if the child finds the stride comfortable and smooth and regular, to enable them to rise easily. "

Thanks FMM that helps , them pics with the saddle was one we borrowed until we got one of our one, he did get a new saddle for christmas but not really a showing one as such , More like a working hunter one (to do abit of everything ) Will look out for a wee show saddle for showing classes .

Hes measured in as 11.3hh So is the right height for A section A , but is he a lead rein pony ? Ie show pony ?? Would he benefit from the welsh shows instead ? ?

I would do M&M lead rein classes - max height in England is 122cm so you are under the height. Start off with lead rein and move onto first ridden when he is confident with the pony. You could also probably do SHP lead rein. It really depends on what you have to offer and I am really not sure what you have in NI !!

He's lovely but not really quite right for the show-pony classes. I expect that he would do very well in the M & M Lead Rein classes - there are more and more of these classes around now. You don't need to plait for them, which is a bonus.

Thanks folks ...

I was thinking he wouldnt be quite right for show pony isnt it the section B's that would be suited to that type of class ?more finer floatier paces ?

We dont have alot of M&M classes in N.ireland unfortunately , but what we do have are normally quite well run Ie balmoral and the The Welsh and Cob society run a show , So will find out when they are .

One more question , What age does the child have to be ? isnt it 6 and under now ??

Under BSPS they must not have reached their 9th birthday by 1st of January in the current year. You can be a bit older with M&Ms than with other lead rein classes.
