Foal coat change, how long does it take?

Onyx is now a month old and starting to look decidedly motheaten where large patches of his coat are changing to reveal an interesting dun underneath. How long does this changeover take?
I did have some hope of getting him to at least one show this year as a foal - but not with his coat in it's present state.

you will find now he will start getting a thick coat, as winter is coming!! or it never left, so you wont get a nice summer coat untill next year

I think you'll find the majority of foals are shown with 'moth eaten' coats!

Mine went to a show on 13th July looking light brown with dark bay patches on her neck. By 5th August she was dark bay with a brown patch on each side of her quaters. Now it is the 27th August and she is dark bay all over except her light brown 'ankle socks'
