He arrived at 9 pm on Sunday evening, and he's about as enormous as we thought from the size of mum's tum! I had popped out for an hour, and of course, all our CCTV kit and alarms went to waste - she had him by the time I came back, and there he was, standing up and surveying his world! Beth was very, very unsettled and upset - didn't know whether to squeal at him for invading her space, or defend him against all comers .... we had a very traumatic night, which I couldn't have survived without wonderful helpers, as Beth refused to let the foal feed, and we eventually had the vet, who sedated her and we drew off some colostrum to feed to the baby. I still have a very sore right arm where Beth towed me round the stable! But after all the trauma, baby is now feeding really well, Beth has chilled out, and is promising to be the most protective mum ever! ("No, you are NOT to go and speak to that other horse/person/dog ....") No parties for him, poor chap.
He's a lovely boy, we are very proud of him - looks like he might become grey eventually like his mum. And he's here safe and sound (eventually!) [img]http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
