My 8 month old currently stands at 12.hh. I brought her from a sale ring with no real info. What height do you think she may make? She's very bum height again now but would love a rough idea. I would love her to make 15.2hh. Is there any breeders who will know roughly by her height now what she might make? Thank you.

Sorry haven't got a clue my filly is 16 weeks and is 12.2hh at the bum and about 12hh at the withers. Her mum is only a smidge over 15hh and her dad I'd 15.3hh. So I am hoping she will make about 15.1 to 15.2. Fingers crossed :).

have just looked back at my youngsters diary (aka facebook album!!) and i've got my wpb down as 13.2hh at 10 months old, he's now at 28 months about 14.2/3 and should make about 15hh/15.1.

Equinim measured her this morning and it measured 16 1/2 inch do does that mean she should make 16.2hh!!!!!
I know it may be possible as her grandmas parents where both 16.2hh. Have to say though if she does make that height might have to sell her as don't do bigger then 15.2hh :(.

where abouts on the knee do you measure to, i'd heard mid knee, or is it to the base of the knee, as this will majorly affect the result???? also is it the front or along the side of the leg as heard both quoted too, this will also affect result!

Mine was so tiny he could walk under his 15.2hh mother for nearly 2 weeks! He always seemed little, and as a yearling was still smaller than my 14.1hh TB.

Now at 3yrs old he is a stonking 16.1 and still growing! His dad was 16.2hh, and he was a first foal to mum.

Goodness me brightstar, he has grown!
my little filly was also able to run under her moms belly, but only for about a week, she's now 12h in front and 12.2 on her bum, she's now 17 weeks old. I think she's going to make somewhere near 15.2 as mom n dad are around that , hope she doesn't follow your boy as she would be huge, interesting hearing how big they are all getting

Do the string test; string from fetlock to point of elbow, hold onto the marking point and turn the string upside down so the end that was on the fetlock is above the withers. Always been correct to an inch for many years even if it tells you there is no way your foal can get to nearly 18 hands! It was the only time I questioned it but it was true! I didn't believe it when it said Harry would get to 16.2 as everything the mare had bred before had been a show cob but it's proved me wrong this time, at 3.5 he's already over 16.1!

no no no no no no no no, i'm not believing that, not one little bit.... I cannot..... no no no no!!!!>........... I did this on my 2 year old today who is out of my 15.2 mare, he's about 16.1hh now, and it came out at somewhere between 17.2 and 18hh!! I couldn't see to be exact as it was so damn high up................... Now 17hh I might believe, but no way anything bigger, unless that is I somehow did it wrong (lets hope so hey!!?)!! lol........ I'm sticking to my original estimate with him of adult height 16.3/17hh!

haha I can't wait to do this later! Who would have thought 17.2 out of a 15.2 mare.

Does it matter what age you do this string test?

Mabel is 12hh she is almost 2 months old out of a 15.2hh CBx (dam) and a 16.2hh TB (stallion)
Marmalade is 13hh I think she is 5 months out of a 16.2hhTB (dam) and a 15.1WB (stallion)
I would love for them to make 16hh at least but 15.2+ will be ok
