Sorry, I know this has been done before, but I can't find the posts I want.

Are there any rules for the naming of my foal when it arrives. Mum is the coloured cob in my sig who I have no idea about her breeding, Dad is Sambertino.

Thanks in advance.

Depends what stud book the stallion is registered with.

However Jupi's dad is KWPN and Bloss is 'unknown' on her passport (although i do know her breeding). I chose whatever name i wanted for him, i wanted to choose a name beginning with 'J' as his sire is Johnson and hes got Bloss's show name as the first part. So he is Parisienne Jupiter, and bloss is Parisienne Girl.

I think ive waffled on a bit, but if one of the parents isnt registered i dont think it actually matters? I might be totally wrong though!

I'm fairly sure it depends on which studbook you are intending to register your foal with as they have different rules. Some need you to name the foal with the first letter of the stallion, some the mare, some the letter for the year of birth and some don't have anny rules!
Which studbook did your covering certificate come from? Some stallions are graded with multiple societies which opens your registration options.

Ciss is the one to ask!

What I understand for the Warmblood registries (and correct me if I am wrong) is the following:

Named from Sire’s initial letter:

Hanoverian
Holsteiner colts
Oldenburg colts
Westfalen
All members of all other German breeds not listed elsewhere

Named from the Dam’s initial letter:

Oldenburg fillies
Polish
Swedish warmblood mares and fillies bred at Flyinge state stud
Trakehners

Names with initial letter unique to year of birth:

KWPN (A in 2005, B in 2006 etc)
Belgium
Holsteiner mares
Selle Francais

No set rules but sire’s initial letter preferred:

British Warmblood
Danish
Swedish

As I mentioned earlier, I will stand to be corrected!
