Now I know some of you don't believe in rugging foals and normally I would think twice about it but our (almost) 4 month old Dutch WB colt foal has very very fine skin (like silk to touch) With the rain and cold weather that we have had over here lately and the autumn and winter coming on I a looking for rugs that while fitting will also allow room for growth.
Problem is he's quite big for his age 130cm (12.3hh)and growing at an enormous rate.
Current length of rug required is 135cm (4ft 5 inches). Most of the rugs I have found only go up to 4ft 3inches.
Rhinegold do have foal rugs in bigger sizes but I have read conflicting reports on their waterproofness and durability. :(
I'm looking for a lightweight turnout rug and a stable rug.
All help gratefully accepted. :)

Apologies if this is a stupid question, but can you not use a pony rug? Horseware do some pony size rugs. I've always found them to be fab quality. They sell on really well too so when he shoots out of them at least you should get a good amount back for them. I would buy them last possible moment, otherwise I bet we'll have a sunny stretch when you don't need them, and he'll have a growth spurt!!

Thanks for the suggestion but have researched this avenue and rugging him with a pony rug could cause more problems than it prevents. For a start the neck would be far too wide and would gape causing slippage and rubbed shoulders and a chance that he'd get it caught on something leading to panic and injury.
