Foal size in relation to adult size??

I have just bought a little scrap of a thing! He is just 8mths old and stands approx 12hh atm (from what we can tell, hes a bit wild)! He is supposed to be by a DWB (15.2hh) out of a 'large' 16hh Arab mare but tbh looks very pony like. I would guess at him maturing around 14hh if we are lucky. What breeding does he look like to you and considering he is only barely 12hh what do you think he will mature at?

what a cute little thing, my foal is 8 months old and shes now about 13hh should mature around 15/15.2hh very bum high, I think they grow 60% of their height in the first year so personally I think your guess is about right. Im no expert though.
 
I would say you should get about 13.2 - 14hh if your lucky - he's very cute though but if only 12hh now at 8 months, should only grow a maximum of another 2hh at best. However, plenty of forage and decent feed shoud work wonders (although obviously don't make him fat!!).

What a beautiful little pony. From my experience of two NF ponies, I think your guess is about right too - 13.2 / 14hh.

He is very cute and take care of him.

Hes lovely ! would think 14.2hh. Arabs usually throw large when crossed with other breeds . I know of a couple of arab mares who always throw big x breds,2 hands taller than themselves mostly. What are you feeding,can I ask? mine have a youngstock balancer called Spillers Gro n Win and one has a little stud mix too, that way they are getting the correct balance to avoid OCD I hope!
 
Thankies everyone, he is a real cutie and quite nicely proportioned I think. He was a complete impulse buy and I paid £150 for him as his owner was selling all the youngstock for peanuts as had hit hard times. He is passported and microchiped. I only collected him on Saturday and he has had NO hard feed at all so I will start introducing some stud/yearling mix gradually today. Any advice re feeding always welcomed. Thanks again.
