Hi, i am a student from Hadlow College doing my Extended Diploma in Horse Management and i am in my final year. For my research I have chosen “Which weaning technique is most popular and the reason for it.”I would be very grateful if you can spare a few minutes to complete my questionnaire as this will help towards my project.

a)- Paddock weaning (Group of mares and foals, take a mare out one at a time)
b)- Fence line weaning (Mare and foal separated by fence line)
c)- Take mare away for a period of time
d)- Put mare in the next stable
e)- Use a nanny when mare is taken away

a)- Yes

We have a small yard with 2 fields - it is easier for us to send the mare away to a friends for a few months out of earshot.

Q6.) Why do you prefer to use Gradual or Abrupt?

Only ever used abrupt due to circumstances - never had a problem as we've always had more than 1 foal at once - they settle within an hour or two with each other in a stable, then are turned out with a nanny pony the next day.Thank you for filling out my questionnaire.
