Troy was an absolute little demon tonight when I brought him in. He was fantastic leading up the drive but as soon as we got near to the stable he started trying to throw himself on the floor having a toddler tantrum (this is a cobbled floor).

To get him in I just threw him into the stable but caught Hannah in the process with his long lead rope which wrapped around her back legs and caused her to have a total panic attack (normal Hannah behaviour so not too concerned

)

Then, before I had even got his head collar off he threw himself onto the floor and started rolling... but got stuck on the haybar, panicked and started kicking it which frighened Hannah to death and she stood shaking and snorting at him

He was so itchy it was unreal and kept backing into everything to scratch, including me but he got a sharrp dig from my elbow and then thought better of it...

Anyone else's foals do this, and if so is there anything I can do to help him?

P.S. Photos going up in the Photo Gallery when I have uploaded them in a few minutes

yep mine used to do this but was difficult for them to roll as there were two of them in the stable lots of mouthing

very funny to watch

Yes mine tried rubbing on me too the other day he was really annoyed about being wet, I got a towel and towel dried the worst of the wet off him, he really enjoyed enjoyed the rub and it made him happy again!

Septre used to when she was a foal. She also used to run round squealing and attempting to kick the nasty rain, then hide under mum!

Soon as she was out of the rain she's tried to roll, although she was still trying to do this at 5 years old

The yearling is just like that (still) - would fling himsel in the straw and just go for it.

So funny......

In the winter the yearling and mum, plus one or two others, slept in the barn at night. It is surrounded with straw bales. He would come in (wet or not) and throw himself up against them, sit on them, lie on them - you name it.

So you are definately not alone!
