We have managed to lose a critical piece of cabling off our CCTV system this year, and I just wanted to say what brilliant service Foaling Alarms offer - (we bought the original system from them). I tried phoning local places to see if I could get a replacement piece of connecting cabling, but was told that I would have to pay £40 to have them come and visit to see what was needed, and that the cabling would be another £40!!! It finally occurred to me to get in touch with Foaling Alarms themselves, and they have been brilliant - not only are they sending the cable post haste, but they refused to take any money for either cable or postage! A rare example of outstanding customer service, I'd really recommend them

Do you recommend the cctv? We are not sure whether to install one or not. How much did it cost? What are the logistics of setting it up/cables? Thanks for any info.

I'd def use them if i choose though, after your comments! So good to hear of a company with good customer focus.

Ooooh nice one.

Also, ditto the person above. How much was the foaling alarm? Do you recommend? What was the setting up of it like?

I tried all the foaling alarm people and no one could help me

some were very nice others just said "can't be done" and were quite rude.

Basically my horse is in an area with no electricity (not a major issue as we could use solar/wind) the major issue was telephone connectivity no landline and YO's house too far for cameras etc. Even mobile phone was ruled out by foal alarm people....

It's camping for us....or rather for my OH and his mate....

I would definitely recommend the CCTV - we have used it in conjunction with a Boots top of the range baby alarm (works through two stable walls and a caravan!); as long as you are not a heavy sleeper, the alarm wakes you up if there are any unusual noises (!beware snoring mares!!) and you can then do an instant check on the screen to see what's going on.

Foaling Alarms supplied us with an infra red camera and all the cabling, and I had a little old B&W TV which I connected into. (You could get one on ebay really cheaply!) I'm the least "handy" person, but could follow the instructions absolutely fine, and the connectors are all colour coded, so just stapled the cabling along the top of the stable walls to run through to the caravan where we camp out. Foaling Alarms will also help with any advice if you get stuck, and talk you through what to do. I can't remember exactly what we paid, but I know that it was literally several hundred £££s less then others quoted, and I think it was something like £180??? (But this was 2 1/2 years ago, so don't rely on my memory!) If you look on their website, I think they give you the different prices for cameras, etc. www.foaling-alarms.co.uk Good luck!
