Foaling Season is upon us!

Well here in Australia, foaling season has just started..... amazing how many foals were suddenly 'born' on August 1st... lol a fair few breeders hide their early babies away in the paddocks til August 1st and then announce that they just got a new one! lol.....

Our pregnant girls still have a little way to go....

The first of ours due to foal is Burleigh, a half TB 1/4 Clydesdale 1/4 Percheron mare.... big bay girly that she is with just a little white spot on her head! Shes in foal to our TB stallion that we had to put down in May..... Ziggy....

Shes due from the 28th August onwards.... so not long to go now!! We will bring her home in the next few days from our other block and keep an eye on her, but when I checked her today she didnt have any signs of an udder....but she DOES look like shes swallowed a couple of bean bags!! lol....

Next to go should be CM Killarnie Ceilidh - a half Cleveland Bay, half TB girly... again, bay with a small white star.... she is also in foal to Ziggy..... shes due from the 26th September onwards.....

Then closely followed by Billara Killari (Killari and Ceilidhs dad are half siblings at least - could be full siblings, just waiting on paperwork to find that out! ) she is a half Cleveland Bay half TB girly, again, bay with just a tiny white star (a few hairs really!)..... she is in foal to a purebred CB named Wetherby Alpheratz..... this foal is due any time from the 18th October to the 24th October.... (This foal is going to be a full sibling to our 3/4 Cleveland Bay Colt, Billara Beersheba).....

And last but not least is Baxters Faberge (Folly)... she was running with the TB stallion from mid October last year til May this year.... she caught early on and was pregnant but then got sand colic really badly and slipped the foal.... bit of a bugger.... so she could be due anytime from January to April really! And the vets out this way dont carry their ultrasound equipment for us to be able to see just how far along she is!! The nearest decent horse vet is 300km away.... so its a bit far to just throw her in the float and go have a look! We will just be surprised when she has her bub!! and waiting will take forever!! Again Folly is bay, with a tiny white star.....

And the TB stallions colour?? Bay, with a white star and stripe! and one white sock!

So we are most likely going to end up with a whole bunch of plain bay babies with little white stars..... lol.... will be interesting telling who is who in the paddock.... thankfully they are all spaced out so age will be the deciding factor basically! lol.....

if you want to have a look at our girls and the boys then just click on our link and go to the Breeding stock....

theres also a link for the TB stallion and one for the 3/4 CB colt, but it has a pic of his daddy on there as well....

And theres some piccies of our kids from last year on there as well..... who were born in YOUR foaling season!! lol.... they were both by the b/w stallion Bald Eagle who is on there as well.... and we were lucky enough to get two coloured kids!!

Caused quite a stir with the CBHSA here when we registered the B/W filly we got as a CBSH (Cleveland Bay Sport Horse)... some of the old stick in the muds were horrified at the thought of a partbred NON bay CB!! lol...... they were told to get over it very quickly!! Next year will peeve them right off with the two half CB mares going to Baldy this year, and we are getting a palomino mare this weekend, who will be going to our 3/4 CB colt..... so possibly two coloured babies and a bucky CBSH to register!! Hmmmmm we need an evil grin icon!! lol......

anyhow, our site is: www.geocities.com/cmsporthorses

Hehe well I guess we are going to be reasonably busy....but nothing compared with the over 100 to foal down in a season when working on the TB studs over in the Hunter Valley in NSW!!! So 4 will be a breeze!
