Foaling Watch

[Fahrenheit]

One of my mares 12 days overdue

and has had wax for nearly 48 hours

, I have had nearly no sleep for the last 2 weeks

have already foaled 3 in last 2 weeks

, got 2 others a couple of days overdue

and 3 due in 2 weeks time

and then another 11 after that

...WHY??

Ahhh this is why....how cute is this??

Makes all the lack of sleep sooooooooooo worth while!

Sorry for the random post HHO is the only thing keeping me awake at the moment!

I just keep reminding myself that in 4 weeks they'll all be here!! Fingers crossed - although it's going t o be a long 4 weeks I think!

I am so glad I only have 3 to foal this year. Ome has already foaled and I never even got as far as sitting up with her. She finished bagging up and waxed up in the afternoon. We brought her in and she foaled 2 hours later. Don't think the other 2 will be as easy.

I keep meaning to invest in an alarm but I did the maths and has we have 7 mares that are being watched at the same time, I couldn't afford that many alarms so its good old fashion sitting watching the camera's and going out there every hour just incase i've missed something on the camera (which I never have but I do just incase)

My last one is due in July, I had them all nicely paired up so that 2 or 3 mares were due within a couple of days of each and each group was a couple of weeks apart, so far this hasn't worked as they are starting to back up and overlap so my cunning plan has been dashed by the fact my mares can't read their calendars properly!

LoL Yes my cunning plan seems to be also going a bit arse-backwards for the same reason - one of my girls who isn't due for 3 weeks is looking more ready than one due next week...! I must buy them all diaries so they know what they're doing and when!!

It would be really helpful if you could reason with them to having them on time wouldn't it! I really think they should have their little horsey calendars hung up in their stables counting down the days until they are due..

I am having to be extra cautious because most my mares didn't even bother to wax up last year, and 2 of the 3 i've had already didn't bother waxing they just started milk when the foal was born...they like to keep me guessing!
