Does anyone have pics of their foals or youngsters who greyed out? I'm particularly interested in those who were Bay...
My filly is from a grey mama and piebald dad but somehow was born Bay. She's got white hairs through he tail now though and I'm wondering if it's a sign of things to come and would love to see your foals and hear how they started to grey.
Not sure if my girl will. She's a v deep rich bay! :)

How old is your foal and does she have white hairs round her eyes, the white tail hair could just be a white marking gene as opposed to the greying gene

I don't have any photos as I've never owned a grey myself but the head and tail are usually amongst the first to start to grey. A tell tale sign in foals tends to be goggles or rather, white circles starting to form round the eyes.

In answer to her being bay, without going into too much detail, bay is black based and stallion will only have had one copy of his 'coloured' gene etc.

ETA: Oops, windand rain beat me to it.

As a foal:

This is my boy.

This photo was taken at about 7 hours old.

He was born with grey rings around his eyes!

At futurity.. About 7 weeks old.

This is at about 6 months old… His greying out was… unusual!
