Any suggestions as to what I can use to replace the foam around the inside edge of my Charles Owen hat which seems to have perished (and showered me with foam dust!). I'm only a happy hacker and it's a comfortable hat that fits so I'd prefer not to replace it. Suggestions welcome - thanks.

No, sorry.

If the foam has degraded then the hat is no longer fit for purpose.
Either buy a new one or put a baseball hat on, as this will give about the same protection as your current hat.

Please don't put down yourself and many others as 'only a happy hacker'

Sorry I'm afraid I agree with my fellow Fuzzy! If your hat has reached a point whereby the foam has perished I would say it's about time you replaced it. You only get one head after all :)

Mine has done exactly the same :( It's not the polystyrene type layer which would affect the safety of the hat to be fair, it's the thin foam backing behind the towelling headband :(

I couldn't get mine to fit nicely again with the makeshift padding I was able to conjure up at the show, so unfortunately I bought a new show hat at £145 :(

Thanks everyone..it is just the very thin foam behind the head band but comments noted.....it's going to be very hard choosing a new hat as there are so many out there now! Fascinated by the makeshift padding though....

If its the Ventura, you can order the replacement inserts from Townfields Saddlery 02476402474. My OH replaced his, I think they were about £12.
