Just been reading the post on colours and I noticed no-one mentioned white markings.

Now, my pref is a star, and some socks.
Personally If faced with two bays or chestnuts the same in type etc - I would have the one with white markings every time! In fact I would be put off a bay if it had no white

Don't like pink noses tho'
what's everyone's preference?

YES!
I know it's silly, but I would only ever go for a horse with even markings.
Front socks, hind socks, all or none. I wouldn't go for a horse with only one sock. The same goes for hoof colour, they have to match up.
I don't like pink skin either, so would never have a horse with a pink muzzle (a small strip on the bottom of a blaze would be ok though) or a pink sheath etc

So, colour wouldn't bother me especialy but the markings would

One white foot, keep him not a day,
Two white feet, send him far away,
Three white feet, sell him to a friend,
Four white feet, keep him to the end.

I have a bright bay filly with no markings ... For her first ever show , the judge commented on how she had no markings , ( hubbie was showing her and he isnt horsey in the slightest ) it was a sports horse class , if she wanted colour there was a coloured class , silly bint

I love my mares markings- a star, a stripe and a spot, and she has 2 white socks. Her foal has a squiggle but he's going grey so it won't be there forever, and he has 3 white socks.

My other chestnut mare has a diamond and no socks, and my gelding has a blaze and 4 white socks.

I wouldn't turn the right horse down if it was solid, but I do like white on my horses, actually, the more the better. Completely white is OK by me too.

Prefer stockings to socks and blazes to stars.

I like a little bit of white, maybe a star or a stripe, not fussed about legs particularly though having had a grey and spent my life washing him!
It's nice that Missie has a bit of white on her (see siggie) as 4 out of the 5 horses I've had for any length of time had no markings whatsoever (and they were 2 bays, a black and a grey) so it's quite a novelty having a star and two white blobs on her feet!

Oh Bane has two white hind feet but I wouldn't send him far away!! He also has a white star.

I must admit I do think even white markings look better

Definitely no white for me. Love bays, but they have to be absolutely all bay. Can't bear white socks or white feet on a bay - sorry

My boy has a big blaze that goes right down over his nose and under his chin, a pink nose and 2 white sock on the back legs! I have always had a horse with those markings strangely enough , bar 1 and she was the one I didnt get on with!! I love his blaze as if u clip it you can see the black markings underneath and it looks kinda cute. Being a Shire x and having a big head, he would look s bit too bolshy if he had this big dark brown head, but everyone says he looks really cute ,lke a big friendly pony cos of his markings

I would have a solid coloured horse, but I must say I prefer white on the legs, and Ideally the back as I think it looks a lot nicer.

I love white markings, but I do like unique looking horses. Lady has an unusual pink and black muzzle and has xhestnut spots in her blaze. Fudge has four white stockings, a white splash on his belly, a white face and a wall eye, I love his markings but realise they're not everyones cup of tea.

I think white markings make a horse stand out, I dont mind blaze or star on face, socks or stockings, though socks are easier to keep clean, as dark hocks and knes!

We have a bay with no white markings at all then four coloureds, 3 balzes, one star, 15 stockings and one sock!

White markings are of no interest to me. I prefer horses to have no white although granted, most do.
