Sometimes it's sheer luck other times its being able to see what a horse could potentially be ... Combined with a little bit a stupidity and willingness to prove others wrong!

Lack of money but wanting quality. For us, we're hugely limited because we only can loan. To find a horse who's capable of what Al wants to do for free you have to go past the normal and into the quirky/ complete unknown. She has never had an easy pony, because if you want to jump 1.10m regularly the pony is either going to cost £10k+ or be slightly nutty.

But if they prove vaguely willing, and look reasonable then anything is possible...

I have either gone for unbacked youngsters with good breeding, confo, temperament etc... or something that needs retraining. Ex broodies that are sound and uninjured can be worth a punt too. :)
