following on from my other post - about the stud suddenly saying my mare has to be on full stabled livery rather than grass livery....

well they just emailed me saying that she can live out and be there the minimum amount of time to save me the livery fees etc ! (reason being, i have another mare who is currently running with a stallion so i would prefer them scanning together at home rather than one at stud and one at home)

BUT.....

I found out this morning re my own pregnancy - i am having twins! so i really dont know what to do! it seems my other mare has this week been 'getting some' so to speak, so hopefully she will be in foal. the plan was to have the two together - i'm going to have a long talk with OH and my mum later.
Its just

how the stud keeps chopping and changing their minds!!
At least i have in via an email that she can live out

I would still have the second foal - I know will be more work but will be easier and nicer in the long run for the foals to be able to have someone to play with of similar age.

I would agree - best for a foal to have another foal to play with!

But I do see why you are annoyed with the stud - sounds as though they were 'trying it on' a bit, in the hope of extracting more money from you, and only capitulated when it became clear you were going to call their bluff and find another stally!

(Unless they offered some reasonable explanation that I've missed somewhere - I don't want to jump to conclusions.)

But if their stallion is perfect for your girl, and you are totally happy with their standards of care, I would still go ahead. Make sure you've read the small print and they won't be able to hit you with some other 'hidden' charges, though.
