Not the news i was expecting. Well since my last post, vet noticed there was no improvement & was reffered to Liphook vets on monday.
Turns ot its not OCD after all?!?!?!?! Near hind leg went down and was no longer lame on it & is only lame on off hind.
More nurve blocks in the actual joint confirmed the corncerning area. Agreed to go ahead and check it out. Whilst he clipped out her leg he noticed a wound that looked fairly fresh (clearly the cause of damage). Surgeon couldn't believe how badley damaged her articular cartilage was and had to remove all. So now she is bone to bone on that joint.
She now has a 50/50 chance of returning back into any form of work & if so is only going to be a happy hack.
If no change after 3 months box rest she'll have a type of drug injected into the joint to see how that goes. We're to discuss futher options when the 3 months are up.
Not the news i was hoping for & pray for only better news for the both of us.
Such a shame as she has so much potential still only a youngster thats not done much, and shes the type of horse that needs to be in work.
Im so gutted

So sorry to hear this. It is always awful to have a youngster with potential who never achieves it - been there twice

Hope you have a better outcome than you think. Fingers crossed.

Sorry for your news.

My youngster has a bone chip in his hock. The vet also suspects OCD in his stifles as well. He goes for the key hole surgery on 11th March. He has a 50/50 chance of soundness. Its so frustrating isn't it. I haven't even sat on my youngster yet. Good luck and keep us posted.

Hallrider - yes very frustraing. Its just havng to wait for the next 3 months to see what way she goes. Dream also chipped her OF cannon bone!!!!! All sorts are going through my head! Its keeping me awake most nights, all i can do is hope for the best. Key holw surgery is what she had too - wish u luck too, and thanks.
