Re- my post last week of my feed going missing, yesterday my girlie spooked and the tie ring came out of the stable wall of through her leg, taking a HUGE chunk out of the fromt of her leg. I ran franticly to go and get some poltice, Gamgee and some vet wrap to secure the bleeding before calling the vet as it was bleeding SO much, blood everywhere and guess what someone has taken it!!! Its there for emergencys and some F****er has taken it! I was in tears i could help my girlie who was in pain, so I had to do the best I could untill the vet arrived who bless her topped my first aid box up for me!

It made me so mad as my first aid box is always stocked fully uncase something should happen and someone has decided that my horse didnt matter and taken what they wanted!

I didn't see your first post, but that is awful!

I'd be having serious words with your YO! (I assume you're on a livery yard.)

Speak to your YO or YM IMMEDIATELY. That is totally unacceptable and something drastic NEEDS to be done. I am absolutely FUMING for you

Firstly, I hope your mare recovers very soon.

Secondly, Now IS the time to make a fuss, a loud one, your YO really should step up to the mark and sort this thievery out.
Has anyone else had a horse that has hurt itself recently?

Did you get everything locked away now?

I'd make a point of going around and asking who had taken them, its bad enough taking something without asking but taking something and then not replacing it as I can only presume they took it in the first place because it was an emergancy like situation and didnt have any of their own.

But no, I'd be questioning every single person on your yard about that and letting them all know that at the time when you needed it, someone had taken it!

perhaps next time they will then think twice, even if they don't own up!

I had a manic weekend to begin with then girlie hurt her self yesterday and went to see Ollie and Jeff last night so not had a chance to. Dad and I are making a 4 section feed bin this wknd so I can lock it all away.

I have been making a fuss for ages and ive made sure everyone knows about it to. My YO says she cannot do anything and TBH I cant think what she can do other than install CCTV but we should be able to trust everyone. So any ideas please as I would like to know who i can trust and cant.

Thank you Enfys - Shes very sore atm as you can imagine but shes a strong girl bless her. I was so distraut when it happen and finding my first aid kit empty just made me cry like a baby! lol.

That is bang out of order. Your YO/YM simply MUST take action! I agree you should speak to people on the yard about it, not necessarily asking if they took it, but just drop into conversation about it and see how they react.

Hope your girlie recovers quickly!

like Kenzo said i would going roud to every single person and asking who had taken my stuff!! Its just not on, fair enough if it was an emergency and they didnt have enough but atleast have the decency to tell me and then go and buy some more to replace it!! Some people!! Also talk to to your YM/YO as a matter of urgency.

Hope your girly makes a speedy recovery

Hope your girl heals quickly

I'm cross for you!! I hate this type of thing which is why I'm so protective over my things and have everything locked away apart from rugs and feed. I hope you manage to catch your thief!

I'd write an open letter to the yard and stick it up in a place for everybody to see. Apologise to those who are innocent for having to do that but point out how serious it could have been and ask everybody to be vigilant. That way the culprit wil know you're on to him/her and everybody else will be aware of it as well and will be able to keep an eye. It's better than ranting as you can get everything you want to say out eloquently and sensibly and you can't be accused of spreading rumours about one person or talking about people behind their backs -not that you are, but you know how chinese whispers escalates.

That's disgusting! On the one hand no one begrudges someone using something in an emergency, as long as they replace it. But to empty your first aid kit is just a despicable thing to do!

I would be absolutely livid and would mention it to every single person on the yard!

Annagain thats a good idea thank you. I think I will wait to breath for a bit before writting it as I can be a real B***h when am wound up lol.

I dont mind people say taking a scoop of this or borrowing that if I get a txt or call saying sorry but ill replace it fair enough but to take take take and no replace! god it makes me mad!

Im on my 3 rd bag of mix this month and 2nd chaff and madame usually has 1chaff and 1.5 bags mix a month and her feed has not changed at all!

I think I will write a letter, id place a camera but thatll prob go walkies to lol.

firstly point out to YO that she is duty bound to try to deal with th theft issue (she takes your money quick enough i bet) next put a large sign up on your fed bin stating after the incident at weekend where your horse suffered an injury & your first aid kit had been used without consent you have reportd it & the previous feed thefts to the police (even if you dont).
glad she is doing ok other than being sore , poor girlie.

but please do not let it rest, they could harm someone/thing before long (what if your feeds were medicated! or you had specialist drugs in first aid kit)

OMG I would be FUMING!!!

we have a great yard, no stealing, it just wouldnt be tollerated, we all have out own lockable lockers anyway...if people where stealing, our YO would deff do something about it...i imagine these thieves arent stopping their sticky mit ways because the YO hasnt said anything to deter them!

Every now and again, our YO posts a letter up and names and shames people who arent pulling there way, ie keeping the place clean, following the rules etc and although its not strict, people respect him and he has the respect of the liveries. Sounds like your YO needs to grow a set and gain some authority over the theives that she has on her yard!

i'd deff put a letter up explaining how you think their behaving is theft and you wont tollerate it any longer.

TBH I would get some chain and padlocks and start locking everything or move. We've been at loads of yards and luckily never had a problem.

No-one pinches on our yard either....YO would go ballistic....she occasionally 'names and shames' those who don't poo-pick or sweep up properly - refers them to yard rules and threatens with being booted off the yard.....

FWIW...I would do a massive open letter too.....and make sure people know how p***** off I am...believe me, thats' not a pretty sight

I will go for the letter option so thank you everyone. The yard facilties are the best in my town and as I do not yet drive moving is not an option for me. Im currently building my buisness so that i can earn enough to have my own yard just enough room for my horse and maybe a handfull more.

Its horrible when you cant trust people and even more frustrating when I wouldnt even know where to begin to think who it maybe! I was never more upset then when I found my first aid stuff gone, although people have no right to touch my stuff my first aid products going missing at time when my girlie really needed them hurt me more than ever beacuse I couldnt help her!

ok my letter what do you think?

I have noticed for a while that some of mine and other peoples feed and hay/haylage have been going missing over the last month or so and to be honest it’s a joke.

People work really hard so that they can have luxury of having a horse and enjoying the hobby they love most and taking feed that isn’t yours I not on. Why should we have to pay to feed our horses as well as someone else’s as most of us are having to pay for extra feed.
It’s bad enough taking feed from peoples feed bins but in my case to take feed out of a pre made breakfast and dinner bowls that’s low!

Although I was never as angry or upset as I was Sunday (24/01) when Tango hurt herself badly and there was a lot of blood flow and I wanted to wrap her leg up to slow down the bleeding until the vet arrived so I went to my first aid draw where I expected to find a stock of vet wraps that I always keep a supply off and guess what they had gone!
Its one thing doing something that effects a person but taking something that effects the horses is not on.

Most of us are kind enough that if someone ran short of anything borrowing a scoop here are there or a bandage or gamgee whatever once in a while wouldn’t be a problem but so much is going missing it’s like we are all chipping in to look after your horse for you!

No one wants to point fingers and I for one wouldn’t even dream to try and think who may be doing this but this has to stop!

This has happened to me although never to the degree that I'm left with an empty first aid kit. I didn't mind people taking stuff as long as they replaced it... they never did, so I locked it all up and hid the key so if I get a call saying one of my neddies has had an accident I can tell them how to get to my stuff.
Hope your girl makes a full recovery.

I'd make it shorter and more to the point.

"I have noticed for a while that some of mine and other peoples feed and hay/haylage have been going missing over the last month. I am not working to support anyone else's horse, but I was never as furious as I was on 24th Jan when Tango cut her leg and I was unable to use MY vet supplies to staunch the blood because they were missing.
This, and all the other thefts are entirely unacceptable. I am keeping all my supplies under lock and key from now on and will not hesitate to go to the police if I find the culprit."
I'm very cross for you!

Even shorter...

'Somebody, or persons...on this yard are STEALING feed.....this is bad enough, but on (date) when I needed my emergency first aid equiptment- THIS HAD BEEN STOLEN TOO.

If it doesnt stop NOW.....I shall involve the police'

See....I don't take no s***.........

If it were me the letter would probably read more like this:

Dear THIEF (whom ever you may be)

I would like to bring to the attention of your not so good self that I am fed up with you stealing my horses hay & feed.
That in itself is bad enough, but just to drive the message home I would like to explain to you that the contents of my 1st aid kit (which was sadly lacking when I needed it last night!) along with my horses tack, rugs and anything else I have slogged my guts out to buy belongs to ME. That me as in myself and ONLY myself.
Now we have that clear please find below the list of missing belongings I would like returned/replaced or money left to replace.

Thankies kindly!

Bless her, she's uneasy when I change her dressing and clense with the Iodine but then I would be to!

Thank you everyone, Its horrible when they are injuried I hate it. Just want to squeeze her tight!

Yes this weekend Ill have my feed box and no B*****D will get to my stuff again!

Balls! Your YO could have stopped it long ago by providing facilities that are lockable, and by making it clear to all liveries that this is not acceptable.

She is being rubbish and weak and is condoning this disgraceful behaviour by her failure to act.

It shouldn't have to be down to you to write letters, your YO should deal with the problem.

You are locking your stuff up but that won't solve the problem for the whole yard, only protect the stuff which you can fit in your bin. What will be next? Money from peoples purses??? Bedding and hay from your stable while your horse is in there? The rug of your horses back? Tell the YO that if there are any more thefts you will be leaving and suggest the others who are affected do the same. It will soon become apparent who the thief is.

You don't reckon it is the YO do you?????

Sorry I'm fuming for you, hope your horse gets better soon.
