I'm on the lookout for a genuine IW 510 or 511 trailer and have been watching ebay whilst looking on other second hand sites. Came across the following, fail to see what it would gain the scammer (believe the ebay ad is the genuine one) and have seen several which are too good to be true but not seen the two side by side like this until now:

GUMTREE AD (Oxford)

EBAY AD (Kent)

Identical photographs and near identical wording of ad.

Feel sorry for the sellers of the genuine ones as makes them look over priced which is reality they are not.

There was a scam this weekend on eBay. A block of stables. I only thought it was odd because I knew the stables had sold the week before. It was an identical ad just with less pictures. The wording was identical except it had been added that for a quick sale the buyer would take £1,900 & deliver for free (but no BIN on the listing) For further details you had to email a different account.
Because I thought it was suspicious so I emailed. They got back to me with an email (with slightly dodgy English ;-) ) but it did seem pretty comvincing & added a few more pictures - they were ones from the original ad.
The seller claims they can only take a transfer to their bank account....not even cash on delivery ;)
I reported the eBay listing as potentially fraudulent & EBay were very quick at removing it. BUT I'm still acting like I want to purchase the stables in emails. This is so I can get as much info as possible before informing the police.
I do hope no-one was taken in by the scam though :(

Seriously though, do people actually hand over their money willy nilly through PayPal ? For such an item, I'd want to check it over and I'd probably hand the cash over in person.

The scam is that you pay what looks like a genuine eBay invoice straight into a bank account, expecting your goods to be delivered (you can NEVER pick it up) and of course your goods don't arrive and the genuine eBay invoice is not genuine but a clever take off. You can't get your money back as the scammers have done a runner.

Also, if you ask to speak on the phone to the scammer, they make the excuse that they have laryngitis and can't speak.
