normally get down to warm up for xc 30mins before im ment to start warm up for about 20 and the let him walk round for 10 mins and finally pop him over a fence just before we have to go to the box!

I tend to get on with 10 in front of me, which is roughly 20 mins. I get on, I am allowed to do her girth up before she decides that I have walked enough at which point she starts jogging and snorting sideways. I make it to the warm up where she announces her presence by doing her best Thomas the Tank Engine impression - at which point everyone starts starring

I attempt to walk and trot but that is never really going to happen so we end up cantering around sideways a bit.

I attempt a jump, more grunting on the approach, a lot of leaping going into the fence and then I attempt to stop after it. I don't tend to jump a lot fences in the warm up.

Go into the indoor arena, she starts grunting even louder every single person stops talking, turns around and stares at me and I try to mingle into the background - which is oh so easy on this big black thing that can't stand still.

I usually get on about 30 minutes before, walk round for a bit till he settles otherwise the trot work will be explosive.

Then trot on both riens and canter both riens till he is off my leg and sensible, then walk for a bit, doing lots of changes of rien and then have another canter, with more collection this time, then pop a xpole, then jump a couple more (uprights/spreads what ever is up)

I then go in

For show jumping - I jump on when theres about 10 to go. I walk him around for a few minutes on each rein, do some trot and canter on each rein (all the time working on getting him forwards and off my leg). When theres about 4/5 to go I pop some fences.

For SJ I have a real plan finely honed over three solid days of BSJA last summer! I start warming up with about 10 to go in front of me. I do a lot on the flat, walk trot and canter getting him really listening. Then with a couple to go I pop a x-pole, then do 2 uprights, one at about 1m, one at about 1.10, ditto oxers. Then in.

I will sometimes jump less than this too.

XC he needs almost nothing and is very stuffy, so I arrive, and when there are about 3 to go I canter on both reins, open him up a bit on each rein, jump a couple of times then into the start box. I will happily go XC without having done more than 1 jump too, he just does not need it.

Ditto SpottedCat, but prob more reps of each jump. Maybe 3 or 4 at the x pole & 3 attempts at the upright, bigger upright, oxer & bigger oxer?

Plus I try not to get bucked off or mow anyone over, which is easier said than done atm...

For SJ, I tend to allow 10 in front of me (ie. I wont put my number down until at least 10 have!) so I can walk the couse then go straight back to the trailer to fetch the horse (sometimes Im on my own). This allows me enough time usually to warm up. Although, if I havent been able to ride that week then Ill want about 15 in front, which gives me extra warm up time. I usually walk and trot around on a long rein for 10 mins. It depends on what the venue allows. I prefer to be able to do some circles etc. to get them bending nicely but often this isnt allowed due to space. So I do a lot of transitions to get them thinking and going off my leg. Jumping-wise, I like to start with a big x pole, then a 1m upright, then a 1.10m upright, then same with the spread. Then Id normally pop a 1.20m upright just before I go in. TBH I dont have anybody who does the jumps for me, so I have to basically depend on others! I jump when the jump gets to the size I want! I dont do many jumps as neither of mine need it. They're better fresher.

For XC, I usually allow 15 mins from getting on. I walk about for 5 mins (often the XC is very close to the SJ so they dont cool off completely in between), buzz them up for 5 (ie. cantering around with weight out of saddle, and doing changes of speed within the canter to get them lengthening etc.). I only usually jump 2/3 times as mine dont tend to need it. Then walk/trot about on a nice loose rein for the last 5 until I go.
