Sorry Guys, you will get sick of all my musings!

At what stage do you think it is best to get a saddle fitter out for a youngster you have yet to back?

I have a saddle which, to my experienced but untrained eye, seems to fit pretty well- but should I get a fitter out to check all is okay? And how quickly/often should they come out thereafter?

Bentley has been on field rest for a year so is completely out of condition, I need to start long-lining, getting him used to wearing tack etc again. Should I wait until I intend to get on? Or until he is actually being ridden, rather than literally sat on?

Thanks

Personally I prefer to get my saddle fitter out before I actually sit on them but after ive done the lunging/long reining. I do all my leaning over et without a saddle at first then once the saddle is fitted continue. This way I can rule tack out if there are any issues with the horse eg rearing/bucking etc.
