I wasn't looking for a horse when I saw Axel up for sale, but it was a case of my heart ruling my head as I was 6 months pregnant at the time!
He was only £900, and I had just had a very timely tax rebate for exactly that much!

I'm not sure I would get a bank loan for a horse, but I'm thinking of getting a loan to buy a lorry next year.

My dad bought him for me, from saved up money no loan involved.
He was only £1000 including tack and rugs.
I personally don't like loans they scare me and at the moment (could change later on in life as I am only 19) but i don't ever want to get a loan out unless it is for something vital (such as a house) as being in dept just scares the living daylight out of me to be honest.

I paid for Thelly in installments, she was only £500 but I was brassic at the time, I had to have her though, and as I got her through a dealer friend, he didn't mind waiting a couple of weeks for the money.

OH used savings to buy Amber.

Might be considering a loan for a lovely horse I have really fallen for though. Failing that, will ask if I can pay in installments

I used some money my nan gave me to buy Flint and my hubby bought Gypsy for me on my birthday.

I bought my boy partly using the profits from buying a youngster with my sis, bringing him on and selling him, and partly using borrowed money from my dad which will be paid back using the profits from selling my house which is under offer at the moment. xxx

Mine were from inherited money from my Grandma. I was very lucky she was so generous! I have a loan for my lorry though. Wouldnt use a loan to buy a horse....too much to go wrong and too much of a luxury to use a loan for....

I had to get loan as didn't have enough in savings at time, as long as your in a good permenant job, with a regular income it is ok to loan from bank. You don;t always have loads of money at one time, but spread out payments makes it possible!

the right horse came at the wrong time so I was helped out by the bank of mum and dad, and have been paying back however much I can afford a month

I was saving up in case I could afford one and then unfortunately my close Aunt died and left me a very generous amount of money, which is another reason why George is so special, my Aunty always said that one day my dream would come true!

I paid cash for both of mine, Well mother bought the first one for 1500 for a birthday and christmas pressie combined.

Brought her on outgrew her so sold he and earnt a bit on her and bought ben outright.

No I wouldn't ever take a loan to buy a horse......and antique Chippendale maybe.....but not a horse LOL!!

I took on a second job (extra 10 hours a week on top of my 40 hour a week IT job) for 4 1/2 years to save up to buy my horse.....that job paid for my tack, most of my horsebox too - I worked my ar$e off and saved almost every penny to buy my horse.

buddie cost me £60 6 yrs ago, i bought him with my 15th b-day money!!!
i used to save my dinner money up each week to pay for his rent!!!

i bought bear last year £1200, paid £500 upfront and then my OH paid the rest off £50 a week for so many weeks!!! that was for my 20th bday!!

and this year im getting my colt bertie when he's weaned for £600 and i bought a project to break and sell to pay for him!! she's being advertised now for £1500 and only paid £400 for her, got to sell her ASAP im getting bertie in begginning of Oct

Insurance! First one was bought with money i got in a personal accident claim after an a**hole rammed my friend and me in her car, giving us both serious whiplash. Current one was bought with the insurance payout i got after first one was sadly PTS. Had to find a few hundred £ extra but she's been worth it (and my old horse's saddle fitted her!).

cash, save up 4 whatever we need, if no cash then we dont have, would never get a loan for car or horse, dont do credit cards
