A little happy thread from somone very proud of their pony!
Firstly, apologies for the rider looking like a chavvy 13 year old...I was trying to make the most of the last of the british summer and wasn't expecting a photographer! The second apology is for the pony's tummy. He is on week 5 of enforced rest and seems to be breathing calories. I can't wait until I can start working him properly again.

In the mean time, we have done a few sessions a week bareback to give us both something to think about, and yesterday we launched our latest game, garrocha! After musing to my dad that i'd quite like to have a go at it one day, he turned up with his latest creation. Not sure bareback was the most sensible chance to try given that not so long ago this was pony's default reaction to new things:

Just to reiterate what I said the other day, you DO definitely do work when you think you are playing. Look how well he is responding to your seat! ;)

He looks fab and I love photos of you two, you look like a real team :)
 
Thanks guys! He is pretty special. My mum and dad were saying yesterday how amazed they were. When I bought him and backed him I thought i'd made a huge mistake, I never dreamt of being able to ride him without a saddle, bridle, neck strap, grab strap on the saddle, body protector and a good loose schooling session for 30 mins before trying to get on! (we may go back to this routine in the winter when the weather makes him wild again!). It's probably a little boring of me to keep putting these pictures on here but I don't have any horsey friends so I have to share his awesomeness with someone! If only I could get him reliably hacking alone he would be the perfect horse.
 
Awesome! Never tried it but it's on my to do list, found some amazing videos on youtube of it before :) Well done for all your hard work, I love seeing your pictures
 
Enfys, that horse is lovely. I think attaching big scary red ribbons to it at this point would add a whole other extreme element to the game. One day!

He has his bloods taken again on thursday coming up. Fingers are crossed. My friends pony is back to hospital this tuesday for another, more comprehensive liver biopsy and scan. He has been out of work since his little friend dies of acute liver failure in April (i think it was then). His bile acids are also abnormal whereas so far mine is just the GGT levels with bile acids normal. Both ponies are shiny, bright eyed and full of energy, it's hard to believe there is a problem.
 
I love those pictures, you two look like you have a fantastic bond.

Out of interest, what is your horse being treated with? Antibiotics, steroids etc?

My horse suffered from problems with his liver in Feb this year, it took a while to get him right, but now his bloods are normal. He had a biopsy as your friends horse has had.
 
His levels weren't insanely high so first course of action has been rest only. If they are worse not better after this I will have to consider my other options. He isn't a great patient away from home so avoiding biopsy it possible.

Do keep putting on your pics, it's really great and has inspired me to think of a whole load of cool games I can do myself :) Your pone sounds like my horse - we can do amazing things in the field, but out on his own, things are not so perfect. But it is a work in progress and getting better all the time, so can be done, I think :)
 
I'm glad its inspired someone! I'm having a great time with him, although I really cant wait to break out of a walk and do some faster work.
