Following on from my earlier post about interviewing grooms this weekend/next week, I have put together a proper job description. I did tell everyone roughly what was involved on the phone, but this is the list I have come up with. These task would not necessarily have to be completed every day/week but are just the sort of things to expect. Can anyone think of anything I have missed?

Summer
Hrs: 9.30am – 5pm
Duties: - Poo-picking fields
- Filling field waters
- Pulling weeds
- Mucking out stables
- Grooming horses
- Cleaning tack
- Exercising horses (hack or lesson)
- Pulling manes/tails

Winter
Hrs – 8.30am – 4pm
Duties: - Mucking out stables
- Grooming horses
- Cleaning tack
- Exercising horses
- Pulling manes/tails – clipping

In addition to the above jobs, some weekends might entail helping and/or riding at shows.

What about:

Filling haynets
Cleaning water troughs/buckets in stables
Disinfecting rubber mats
Bathing horses
Washing boots/numnahs/rugs
Feeding
Cleaning out feed buckets/bins
Turning out/bringing in
Rugging up
Yard sweeping

- Cleaning\filling water troughs in fields
- Clipping horses
- Carrying out treatment (following vets instructions) as required. i.e. Poulticing, dressing etc.
- Administer wormer
- Hold horses for Vet\Farrier\Dentist\Physio etc.

Does the helping at shows require them to drive a lorry\tow vehice. Do they need a special licence?

No driving, towing etc involved - just general holding horses, tacking up, etc.

I'm not sure if I trust others to carry out vet-related treatment, wormers etc, and am a bit worried about letting others feed my horses. I am so overprotective of my neds (had a couple stolen earlier in the year, and although managed to get them back, am in very posessive-mother mode atm)
