Thanks for all your replies.

Emailed local hunt secretary and they are going to give me a lift to cubbing next week. Seen another post about this, so wearing hacking jacket, tie, beige jods and boots. But I don't have to plait? Does numnah colour matter? Should I take a stick and should it be black? My horse usually wears brushing boots, should he wear them or not?

How do all you with greys keep them clean for this? I am getting picked up at 5:30, so is it just get up early and scrub? Are all your horses tacked up to travel?

Help, I'm starting to panic now!

hi :)
You don't have to plait for cubbing. Numnah colour should really be brown or black. Take a stick if you feel you need one, black or brown is fine. Wear brushing boots if your horses usually wears them. Tack up before hand as its a lot easier, especially as youre getting a lift. No tricks to keeping greys clean I'm afraid, apart from bandaging legs- I would suggest an early start and hot water :)

I have a grey and I would usually wash and clean as much as possible the night before, plait his tail all the way to the end while wet and tuck it up so no poo on it in the night. A full neck rug helps too if you have one. Any green stains in the morning I first try a cloth rung out in as hot water as possible..with a second bucket for rinsing the stains off the cloth so original bucket of hot water doesn't end up dirty too quickly. This saves getting whole horse wet with a hose and scrubbing brush and has advantage of keeping your hands warm on a cold morning! :)
