I.e do you give your dog scraps off your plate when you have finished eating etc?

And do you let your dog lick your plates (obv wen you have finished!)

Have done poll so you can remain anonoymus if you want!!

Yes and no. Very, very rarely she will get scraps but it is never fed from the table. It is mixed in with her own dry food. And no she does not get to lick plates!

Yes and No.

Any scraps are mixed with their dinner in their own bowls.

Same here - although naughty spaniel tries to lick plates in the dishwasher when the door is down!

Yes and no, my dog eats dog biscuits and our meat or fish ie he loves sardines, salmon, chicken, beef and ( pasta though not too much) and finely chopped veggies. I spoke to the vet about him cos he won't eat dog meat from tins and she said it probably stemmed from the menu we got from the breeder when he was a pup, chicken, scrambled eggs, porridge etc and would you want dog meat after that. She also said to leave him with the dog meat and that a dog has never starved itself but three days later after he'd eaten nothing I gave in and he had a big juicy steak. He eats well an we don't stress so thats fine.

hmmm.... interesting poll..... It assumes that human food is not a good thing for a dog and that dog food is the best diet. Which I happen to disagree with (possibly contraversially!).

I feed my dog a balanced diet appropriate to his needs, devised in conjunction with a canine nutritionist. However you could argue that i feed him 'human' food because I feed him the same meat that I might cook for my own dinner...

So - yes I feed him human quality food - every day. All his food comes from fresh ingredients - sometimes we all eat the same dinner. eg. If we have steak, broccoli and mash - Loki could probably have the same - but his steak would be rarer or raw - he would get plain mash (no milk/ butter) and only a little bit of veg. and he would have his dinner at a different time to us - and in his bowl!

Mine are fed dog food....but I will give them scraps..i.e if im eating a bacon sarnie..I will give them whats left if I leave any...but I don't literally cook or buy them human based foods...not that I don't agree...just choose not too.
I DO NOT allow them to lick of my plates!

Yes and Yes,

BUT I only give him human's food scraps IF there's any with his biscuits as a evening meal not as extra meal. It's a rare occurance as i like my food and eat everything!

yes they get scraps and i do cook extra veg and puddings on a sunday for them. but i wont let them eat off my plates. can you imagine eating from your dogs bowl because thats how i see it.
as much as i love my dogs i would not let them have my plates yuk.

We're extremely lucky in that our local pet shop makes its own organic food (ingredients below). I also feed her scraps--goat yoghurt, green veg, brown rice pasta, fruits, eggs, fish--but not from the table.

Organic turkey breast (no organs), ginger, garlic, parsley, carrots, zucchini, broccoli, apple cider vinegar, omega 3 fish oil, flax seed, sea meal, slippery elm powder, blue/green algae, dried cranberry, taurine, bone meal, zinc, vitamin E, scorbate C, bee pollen, grapefruit seed extract, trace minerals, digestive enzymes, lecithin

The girls get scrap Vegetables but not Potatoes or Pork.

Definately NO to licking plates!
I know someone that lets her dog lick dinner plates AND I've seen it lick coffee mugs that are on the floor at the side of the settee! full or empty!
I NEVER have a coffee round her house despite the fact her pots are washed in a dish washer! So all of you plate licker lover's, dont ask me round for a coffee!!

I dont feed potatoes just because they're fattening (particularly my mash that has lots of butter in it!) and dont feed pork because dogs dont digest pork very well & it can make them sick plus it contains round worm. Cant tell you anymore about the roundworm though because I dont know!

Oh right! Didn't know that re roundworm!

On the sick front, I had heard it makes them sick but still gave it to them one day....only to regret it!!!

Well my speciality is gammon ham soaked in cider for 24 hours then part cooked in the cider & finished off in the Rayburn. We think it's lovely but clearly my poggies had different views!
