My dog is also a fussy eater and I just wondered how long you can keep the food before it goes off. Im not worried about the dried food but I feed tins as well. If he leaves it say at dinner time, should I bin it that night if its left again later in the day? I have been throwing it away but it drives me mad.

If I ever use tinned dog food I will feed it the next morning (I put a plastic top on the tin to seal the can) but that is it, it then gets binned

Hi thanks for replying. I keep part tins in the fridge with a plastic top on for the next day but Im wondering about food that has been put in his dish but not touched. I throw it away more often than its eaten and its such a waste.

TBH I would keep that until the next morning too, then if it still isnt eaten then throw it away. I find fussy eaters so depressing, thank god for mad greyhounds who think they are being starved always

Agree with acolyte, or feed dry, that way, u are not always wasting food, 1 meal a day, small amount, down for 10 mins, I don't even leave that long

then nothing till next meal and no treats inbetween, dogs really don't need, half as much as we feed, unless working or racing.

Do you really only feed once a day BTW? Or is that just for fussy ones? I always feed twice a day, have done ever since I have had larger greyhound sized ones cos they need too much all in one for a single meal????

Once a day

Aww thanks, hes only 8 mth old so he gets a breakfast, which he usually eats, a dinner and a tea!!! Maybe Im overdoing it!
Im new to doggy owning and according to the tins he should get at least 4 tins a day (Butchers supreme), he probalbly eats 1 or on a good day 2 and I ashamed to say hes a bratty Lurcher and yes I know Ive caused that

We keep trying dried food and he has fazes of eating it, it would be so much easier but he spends time with my friends dogs whilst Im at work so I try to stick to what he gets there.

The guide lines, also mean u buy more
smirk.gif
, seriously don;t worry, feed what he is able to eat, and cut down if he is wasting, dogs can survive on mere rashins, we humans feed them like kings

Stick to one food, and that it, take i or leave it, u should only worry if he drops signifigant weight, otherwise don't stress
