Just a query really, reading the other thread got me thinking, ben is now about 15.2 but seems to have stalled at that for quite a few months now, :( He is only 29 months but its bugging the hell out of me. They say that if horses are on a good diet they will reach close to their max height sooner, which he has been. I so hope I can squeeze another couple of inches out of him and have him end up at 16hh, but even though I know he is still just a baby I am starting to think that won't happen. Please tell me I am being silly! At this age he surely has a couple of inches left to go right? Has anyone else had a horse max out this early, is it possible, or is it a reasonable estimation to think that he should make 16hh in the end?

His dam was connie x tb and was 15.1, sire 16 1 tb x ? (pretty sure there must be some cob in there as he has some feather and a good coat).

thank you, I keep telling myself that the next increase will probably come in the spring with the grass, if we make a couple more inches I will be more than happy, although if he keeps going, I'll certainly not argue with that either, but 16hh would suit me :D

ahh, one can always hope, I suppose I just got a bit silly because he seems to have plateaued with his weight for so long... I know his body will kick back into action when its ready.

I shouldn't worry, he isn't 3 yet is he so more time to grow yet :)

Tell you what, I only wanted mine to reach 15.2hh and by the looks of things he is definitely gonna make 16hh at least so you can take the extra inches for your boy :p:D

I'm happy that at least I know he's going to be big enough but worried about when He'll stop :)

The thing is, I know he is a baby still and generally they continue to grow, I did wonder though if anyone had had a horse stop growing so early on? Probably not! At the end of the day (if by some miracle he didn't grow another millimetre, I could still ride him and would be happy to, so he won't go anywhere :D Just musing really :D

It really does depend QB. I have broken and brought on an irish cob who sticked at 15.1hh as a late 3 year old. He was sold as an early 4 year old at 15.3hh and I saw him competing as a 6 year old at 16.2hh

My old boss bought a NF pony as a 2 year old, 13.3hh to make 14.2. He stayed at 13.3hh  Didn't grow at all!

My 3yo is 11hh and doesn't seem to be making any advances on that  I was hoping she would make 12hh, I guess there's plenty of time yet. My New Forest was near enough 7yo before she stopped growing.

Oh rhino you've worried me now! I have a 3 year old who's 13.3 a height which I find pretty useless for competitions as its just out of the 13.2 classes. Was hoping for at least 14hh. Oh well at least I'm short
