INDIAN RIDGE
Leading international sire Indian Ridge died of a heart attack at the Irish National Stud on October 17th. The 21 year-old son of Ahonoora whose achievements both as a sire and broodmare sire are remarkable, has stood at the farm in Kildare since 1994 when his fee was just £6,000 and this season he stood at a fee of €75,000. Responsible for eight individual top level winners from 5f to 12f, his stars include Gr.1 Breeders Cup Mile winners Domedriver and Ridgewood Pearl and he is also credited with the impressive feat of having sired a Stakes winning juvenile in 13 of his 14 crops. He enjoyed yet another stellar season in 2006 with no less than 11 individual Stakes winners, six of whom won at Group level headed by Gr.1 Cheveley Park Stakes heroine Indian Ink. A sire of sires, his sons at stud include Gr.1 Irish 2000 Guineas winner Indian Haven who stood alongside him, Namid, Compton Place, Domedriver and Definite Article. Indian Ridge has also left an indelible mark as a top class broodmare sire with his daughters having produced Group 1 winners Nightine, Airwave, Wilko and Reel Buddy.

I have one of his grand daughters, Spur of Gold, she never made it as a race horse, running a number of time, but proving not to be very fast...........

Such a shame - RIP Indian Ridge

Indian Haven was a very talented,if rather quirky, individual, and I certainly remember Ridgewood Pearl and good old Compton Place.

Very sad news indeed.
