Some of you may remember I posted a while back about a job I was offered. Basically i'm working part time (4-5 days a week) in the local tack shop and I love it. Its the ideal job and means i still have lots of time for the horses. However the pay isnt brilliant. I recently got offered a full time job working for Virgin media. It means Ill be working late every night and I may not even like the job when I'm there but it also means I have alot more money in my pocket and enough to buy my own car making it easier for me. However it means less time with the horses and im really nervous about telling my boss as shes a freind aswell and I feel like Im leaving her in the lurch. My mum and dad are both pushing me to take the job as the money will help out alot but I really dont no what to do

You have to do what makes YOU happy, not other people. Will it make you happy changing jobs? How will you feel if you have more money but less time for your horses? You have to work out what is important to you. If in doubt, do nouwt.

There is more to life than money and if being with your horses is important to you then you need to consider this.

However, are your parents supporting you and your horses? If this is the case then perhaps you do need to shoulder more of the financial burden.

It can only be you that makes the final decision. I work full time and have very little time to spend with my horse during the week - although this will get better in the summer months. But if I didn't work full time I wouldn't be able to afford my horse.

Hope that helps - good luck with your decision.

I'd take the new job, give yourself 6 months in it and then decide what you want to do long term. You may be able to put your horse on full livery? Presumeably if you're working late nights you're not working mornings so ride then...sounds fab!

Thanks guys I guess Ill take the job and see how it goes. I will have time on the mornings to sort them out and ill just have to pay someone to see to them on the night. My mum has been paying the rent for my horse at the minute and its about time i pay for him myself.

theres more to life than money, i would rather be skint, spend time with the horse and have a job i love, than to have alot in the bank and dread work every morning like i do now
