... i also want to try hunting. i think my wee boy would benefit greatly from it.
i have a slightly different problem; i have my own pony but he's an 11.2hh welsh section A and i am a 5'6" 20 yr old.

whilst we look quite silly, he's plenty fit enough, isn't suitable for a child (he nearly killed the last one) and therefore cannot be sold. my vet, saddler, farrier and physio are all very happy with him as he would just be left bored in a field if i didn't keep him.

so, will a hunt 'accept' us? what do i need to wear? what about boots for him? and is there always an alternative around jumps as we can only pop the small ones!

thanks in advance guys, x x

Yes, go, you wont be frowned upon, better than all the 14year olds I see out on 17hh WBs...
You should wear either blue/black jaket with shirt&stock, though ties are accepted widely for newcomers. Light coloured jods and long boots/gaiters and hard hat.
Mos hunts provide a non jumping fieldmaster- if you choose to go on this I wouldnt boot up- IMO booting horses for hunting will cause problems- xc boots arnt designed to be on for hours in muddy conditions, and I have heard of tendon injury through it- only know a few who boot up and that is on big wall days with us :) Happy hunting.

You will be accepted just fine!

I am 19, 5ft7 and I hunt my 13.1 regularly.

I wear a navy heavyweight wool jacket, cream stock, light jods and leather long boots, and I don't boot my girl up at all and we jump so fair sized fences, think we went up to about 4ft on Monday.

I can always post some photos if you like?
