A short summery of the story so far - I decided to sell my horse as i had a neck injury which ment i wasnt going to be able to ride for a while. So people asked to have my horse on trail and to have her vetted while on trail, we asked them to have her vetted before she went on trial but they didnt agree. So thay take my horse and have her vetted, vet finds 'sarcoides' 4 of them. We said to them that we would drop her price so that they had the money to get them treated. They bring my horse home after 10 days looking poor and with rubs all over her, she did not go looking like this, I am awear that my horse probly found it stressful but she has rubs from a headcollar and bridle on her which I am not happy about anyway. I didn't know where to go now so looked in to lots of things.

Took my horse to my normal vets tonight and he DOSNT think she has sarcoides, he seemed quite suprised about it really. We showed him the 'sarcoides' anyway and he said that IF they are sarcoides that it was too early to treat them (not sure about this?) and that he thinks they are a fungle infection. He took skin samples and we will have the results back in a few days. We are also sending pictures to Liverpool to see if they can confirm weather they are sarcoides or not.

A few pictures for you too. and if anyone has any experences of things like this or has seen similar, feel free to share. Also your opinions on weather these look like sarcoides aswell.

Well a sarcoid ridden pony up my yard has loads of them that look like that... But yours may not be... The only one that looks IDENTICAL to the pony's is the one in the armpit... If you feel it does it feel lumpy kind of inside? Like the lump has grown internally? The owner was told not to treat that one at all as it would be messy and painful for pony. She is like one giant sarcoid, she's never going to be rid of them, so only has the large ones that bother her treated.
 
The one in my mares arm pit we always thought was a scar, its just smooth. The vet said that he was looking for thickening of the skin in it but there wasn't really any thickening of skin on any of them. He say that it appeared very much like scar tissue. We have decided not to sell her now anyway as i do love her =] Want to get this all sorted out anyway, they dont cause her any pain or bother that iv noticed but i want to be awear of what may come in futher. Glad that the pony you are on about copes well with them then =]
 
Well the vet has warned that eventually she may have to be PTS (this pony is only 12hh, and the insides of her legs are just sarcoids, her belly is covered and last year had one the size of a tennie ball!). The owner just tries to keep the large ones that would bother her down, which are the dangly ones. The flat ones don't bother her. She has tiny ones under her girth which we keep on top of and does mean she's out of work now and again. It's a nightmare.

Such a shame because she really is the best childs pony you could ever ever meet!
 
Oh dear, im glad that they can still ride her though. and its good to see that they control them enough for the pony to have a good quality of life, thats proably my worst fear really, is that if they are sarcoides my horses quality of life could go down hill quickly.
