Following on from the “pathetic toilet roll thread” I have another pathetic yard moan just wondered if this would bug anyone else….

We are on full livery which is £560, but every month they yard manger also wants £2 from everyone for tea and coffee. Now I don’t have a problem with contributing to this, I just don’t understand why it can’t come out of the livery money or she could bump it up by £2 to cover it.

It means every month she is chasing everyone for their loose change and I’m always forgetting or don’t have it on me at the time!!
Anyway I know it’s silly and unimportant but thought I’d share!!

I would just make my cheque/standing order for £562 and leave it at that - though at that price I guess you could expect the odd cup of tea anyway? Alternatively, just give her £24 for the whole year and be done with it.

Seems as though her time management may be a bit on the wonk if she has time to chase everyone for £2?

What about getting everyone who agrees with you to approach the YO and ask for £2 to be added to your livery. Agree it does seem daft and is extra work for her to chase folk for a couple of quid.
We were being deducted £4 a month at work for tea and coffee. I only drink coffee and bring my own as theirs is cheap crap and tastes like gravy powder! :D So myself and a few others had a moan and they decided to abandon the charges for the sake of peace and harmony :D
Mind you, for £560 a month, I'd expect free coffee. And biccies. Chocolate ones. :D

Lol oh dear I hadn't thought of that she'll be chasing for loo roll money next!
I did suggest adding it on but she said this way works for everyone....apart from me of course...

We had this at my old yard but as I can only drink soya milk and decaf tea I took my own. A rather large notice went up saying even if you supply your own tea etc you still have to pay £2 to use the water and kettle.
Tea money was paid in cash cos it went to the mgr whereas livery went to yard owner. We paid livery by standing order, extras by cheque and tea and trailer storage by cash. Such a hassle every month.

I would do this rather trying to remeber £2 a month im terrible with anything like that.

take a thermos flask and see if u still have to pay to sit and drink it :p

God how many of you are at the yard that sounds a lot of money for each month, what if you do not drink the tea or coffee, we all just take it in turns to buy the stuff we need, and the people that do not drink anything do not have to get the supplies.

The livery is pretty much the going rate in Guildford give or take £50. We do have two lovely schools, horse walker etc..

There are tons of us the yard is massive! I also hardly ever even have a tea but didnt want to start that sort of business over £2!!
I should just give her the money for the year up front i guess, i'm just maoning!!

oh this is funny!! i must have missed the loo roll thread! ohh the petty things that are attracted by livery yards :roll eyes: whatever next . . .

I'd just refuse and take a flask. Lidl loo roll is the best - the 9 pack which costs about £3.60. Great stuff. I keep a roll of kitchen roll in my grooming box just incase the yard chemical loo runs out (which it frequently does)

I have 3 different boxes in my feed area though - one has the brushes, one has rubber gloves and stuff and the other has kitchen roll, cotton wool and cornucresine (how do you spell that?)

TBH your full livery is cheap in comparison to the same round here! but as others have said I wouldn't expect to pay for tea and coffee as I would take my own as I am fussy about which coffee and I don't drink tea - see no reason why I should supplement others tea and coffee habits:o

But then I am grumpy old cow......;):D:D:D

I suppose this is the difference between full and DIY livery. Full-ers socialise over a hot drink while we DIYers rush around like blue-arsed flies doing all our chores.

I'm joking, by the way. We don't have a loo let alone somewhere to enjoy a drink.
