Well I'm pretty upset. I went out to the field this morning to catch him, he came over to me as he usually does, but when I went to put his head collar on he lunged and bit my face. Luckily not badly. But i went mad, screaming and shouting at him and chased him away. When he came over to me nicely I got the headcollar on and decided my only option was to try join up with him.

It went pretty well, he was following me around at the end and I managed to touch him all over without him showing any signs of aggression. He was still putting his ears back after when tied but a firm NO stopped this.

I noticed that when I put him back in the field afterwards he was trying to boss another horse around (he is bottom of pecking order at the moment), so I wonder that as he is now settled he is seeing what he can get away with.

I have a friend coming to the yard with me later in case he tries it again. I know I shouldn't show it but I'm scared, half a tonne of animal coming at your face is scary. Feeling pretty rubbish right now. :(

I hope that you are OK, that must have been so frightening. I also really hope that you are able to get to the bottom of this behaviour and stop it, as that is pretty dangerous.
