.... I TOOK A PHEASANT TO THE VET!!!

It had been hit by a car and left. My husband & I took it to the nearest vets where they took it and said they'd treat it. I rang the next day and was told it had been treated and moved to a wildlife centre that would release it when it was ok to do so. My husband said the vet had probably put it in a pie and was just trying to keep me happy.

And yes we paid for it!

Just trying to keep the lovely hedgegog post focused on the hedgehog ;)

I have to say as a true animal lover I would try to help any animal I came across. Whether that be pest or domestic, farm or exotic. I will often do what I can for seagulls trapped in anti bird netting while so many 'animal lovers' are not the slightest bit concerned the bird will die a slow nasty death.

Lol youre nicer than me OP - it would have been in my freezer inside the hour!

I'm a firm believer in the naural progression of nature but if i saw a sick or injured animal/bird that i felt wouldnt recover i would have no hesitation in culling it (or getting it shot) just to speed up the process - yes its interfering but but to me its acceptable interfering

Hahahaha
I have taken a few wild animals into the vet and never had to pay!! :)

I believe that if you run a pheasant over and kill it you are not allowed to pick it up and eat it, something a shooting bod told me once ? The next person allowed can have it though.

I took a seagull to the vet. It had an obviously broken wing.

They put it straight down while I was there. i think me trying to put it down would have been a comedic wrestling match, it was massive and bit me twice while I was getting it in the car.

I did feel bad that it had a stressful ending, BUT what do you do? Leave it running around the ground in obvious distress to hopefully get killed by something, or alternatively die a slow death.

Or as I did, a two minute car ride and it's all over? Compassion would not let me leave it injured and (fairly) helpless, but I wish I had, had the means to kill it myself there and then.
