I was just reading through the working-in post lower down and it got me thinking: how do you apply the 'rules' of sharing an arena at a competition? In dressage obviously left to left when working normally on the track - but do you give way if you are on the left rein and someone comes towards you down the track in shoulder-in or travers? Jumping-wise, where would you choose to walk on a long rein? In a dressage warm-up it's much easier when people take an inside track but when you're warming up to jump it seems to me to make more sense and make working-in easier when people wander round on the outside track and leave the middle of the arena for those who are cantering, circling, jumping, etc., but then again some people apply left to left whichever pace they are in. Would be really interested to know what everyone thinks.
