Can anyone tell me the correct way to mount and dismount with a western saddle? Bleedin pommel is a bit of a nuisance in that regard!

no difference when mounting (though you face forwards) and when dismounting leave your left foot in the stirrup! Not difficult at all, just do what John Wayne did!

Left hand on the neck holding the reins right hand on the horn.... simples.....

you can just dismount in the usual english way but being careful not to catch your jacket/jumper on the pommel which i have done! i've ripped jackets and zips in jackets! but as my horse is quite tall i cannot step down like others, although my daughter who has long young legs has no problem!!
