Thank you for replying to my previous post about moving yards - I've decided that I definitely want to move my loan horse to a better yard with more people similar to myelf whowant to enjoy their horses and do more with them - I think it will benefit both me and my horse. I spoke to my horse's owner and she agrees with me.
I'm not looking forward to telling everyone at the yard as I get on with most of them and although a few of them really annoy me, on the whole it is a friendly yard and they have helped me out a lot - I don't want them to think I am throwing it all back in their faces if that makes sense.
I have a few potential yards lined up - but does anyone know of any yards in the London/Surrey/Middlesex area that do DIY, have good turnout and a school?

I have gone through two very similar situations as you. I have moved yards twice and the first time i was not worried about moving as i hated it but when it came to moving the second time i was very upset and worried. I loved the yard and the people even though sometimes annoying were mostly luvly. I moved to benefit my horse and it has done him and me the world of good!! i am soo happy!!

Im sure you have made the right choice for you and your horse! i wish you lots of luck. . . Have loadsa fun:D

Hello hun - not fancy manor farm?

I found a lovely yard today in between Chessington and Leatherhead and I think I'm going to move Oscar there once I find a loan home for Ty Ty.....

I do love Manor Farm, I'd definitely use the school there but its so expensive, is it £160 per month on DIY? I'm a poor student and my mum pays my livery for me, I pay for everything else and can't ask her to pay much more than £120.
Which yard is this that you've found? Could be a possibility..I'm also thinking of Barwell and possibley Arbrook, and one in Stoke D'Abernon that the lady who does my nails recommended!

Barwell aren't taking anyone and the new yard is more expensive!

Arbrook would probably be good - but no school though,..

Oh no! I'll have to have a really good look around, I'm not in a major hurry to move but would ideally be in my new yard before I go back to uni in late September. This is more stressful than house-hunting I'm sure!

I am on a great yard near Dorking where there is grass/part/full - not DIY, but the grass cost includes unlimited food/hay and there are good facilities inc. school and full set of showjumps, great hacking, and plenty of people out competing. There may be another grass livery space for a mare soon.

Then you have Great Bookham EC which does DIY - again at the expensive end, but if you want to get in to competing there are lots doing that there, and they have plenty of shows on site. Good turnout too.

Paddock Lodge in Ashtead (right by the woods) has lovely hacking and is a smaller yard that seemed friendly to me - not as expensive as most in the area.

Chace Stud Farm is also in Ashtead, but over towards the epsom downs side - good hacking around headley and the downs and box hill .. beautiful arena, lovely facilities. They were full when I was looking, but honestly one of the nicest yards I have ever seen. They are BHS approved - details on the BHS site. They have brilliant turnout too - 24/7 in summer, and all immaculate post and rail. They only do assisted DIY, but it is very reasonable. You can hack to mid surrey PC open events from there.

I've seen a few adverts for DIY/grass livery in Headley at the moment - no idea where, btu again great location for hacking/competing.

I'm sure I could think of more... but can't seem to right now... TBH I'd stay slightly further out of London, as it's much nicer riding and grazing seems to be less oversubscribed.

what about gucci_b's new yard..... Is that in the right area for you. I know she is looking for liveries

Thanks for replying, Gucci_b's yard sounds great but its too far from me, I am mainly looking around Esher, Cobham, Claygate, Chessington and maybe Dorking way. I live in Teddington and the rush hour traffic isn't great from there, through Hampton Court etc. Rachel your yard sounds good but I have a gelding, and to be honest I would like to have a stable.
I'd be interested in the yards around Ashtead but they're so far away! And I need to be able to get there quickly in an emergency and if I'm short of time myself.
