brought my boy in today after his first night out for a few days and he was still lame.....found walking quite uncomfortable, so vet came and diagnosed a septic corn....antibiotics, pain relief and box rest.....he did leave the shoe on though which I'm not sure if thats good or not....will have to wait and see


no Le Trec training for me tomorrow and a very miserable jeej

oh btw bought keratex and cornucrescine hoof moist, so fingers crossed that will help and I 've made the decision to remove shoes from October to March and try using boots to give his feet a break

becuase my farrier had taken it off thursday and cut a small corn away and then replaced the shoe....jeej can't cope without shoes, which should have improved by now with rest and pain relief not got worse.....obviously I gave the vet the history and farrier said deffinately NOT an abscess
 
I know he's not a happy bunny, I just hope its nothing more sinister.....I've got a gut feeling though that the shoe will be off before the week is out and x-rays following.....
 
Corns can be terribly painful though - and unless the shoe that's gone back on is either a corn shoe, or has been parred so that it is not touching the corn, the pain will continue......

Get the farrier back up and the shoe off. That way you can poultice the infected area - take the pressure off the corn, and monitor better what's going on. (It's what I'd do anyway.....).
 
farrier said he 'd parred it away so I am asuming the shoe is not touching the corn......I guess I'll see how he goes over the next few days with treatment and yeh obviously if no improvement the vet will be back and so will the farrier
