Hoping someone might have some bright ideas of what to feed my cat. She's been with me three months, and has been checked by the vet a couple of times. Issue is that she has had an upset stomach a lot of the time, going to the litter box multiple times a day. She is fed natures menu chicken pouches and has constant access to high quality dry food (More chicken +). I've tried changed the dry food, taking away the pouches and just feeding dry, just feeding wet, a different brand of wet, just feeding dry and chicken... nothing has made much difference. She was better on just the dry, but has lost a bit of weight on it so really I think she needs some wet food too. All food is grain free with a high meat content and few ingredients. Vets say there is nothing wrong with her, so I was wondering what you lot feed to your cats that have sensitive tums. My last cat ate everything with no issues so this is new ground! She is otherwise happy and healthy, bright and alert.

Maybe chicken doesn’t agree with her? Try excluding chicken protein to see if that makes a difference. My old cats were vomit queens sometimes it was hair balls, sometimes they’d eat too fast and throw it back up, sometimes who knows why?! They lived to 16 and 18 respectively. Current cat hardly vomits ever.

Not personal experience but the shelter I work at swears by the Royal Canin sensible 33, dry and wet. It's expensive but it works for MOST cats that come to us.

A friend of mine has a cat who is allergic to a LOT of different proteins, including chicken and he is on a Royal Canin Ultamino/ Hypoallerginic that is eye-wateringly expensive but he was checked and had allergies confirmed before they got to that stage.

The Alley Cat would often have this, you think you'd get him stabilised then you'd go back to another spell of liquid poo ?

Having searched and found the recommendation on a forum, I put him on Royal Canin Gastrointestinal Kitten. I also started transitioning him to adult pouches (Applawse) as I suspected Kitten food was too rich for him, and he was over 6 months so the vet had said OK to do

I'm currently in the process of trying to move his dry food to the adult applawse biscuits. I'm doing it very gradually. If it affects him, he will have to go back on the royal Canin

The other thing- how much are you feeding him? Ac would just eat the lot in one sitting if given ad lib. Also, I strongly suspected OH was giving him far too much food, especially seeing the amount he gave PD once. Since repeated upset stomachs with him doing the biscuits, i now insist I measure his dry food, using the quantities on the Royal Canin packet. I use a scoop you can get for cats/ dogs bit like a horse one. touch wood AC stomach seems to have stabilised. Apparently according to OH I feed him too little, but it's co incidence touch wood we haven't had liquid poo since I took over!! I upped his dry food a tiny amount as felt he could have a better condition score, and now he seems a nice build.

It may be because he is now on adult food, it may be other factors, but its interesting it's seemed touch wood better since I am mean and measure the food!!!

My rescue cat came to me emaciated and presumably with no gut bacteria - he had terrible diarrhoea and like you I tried several different things. Eventually I put him on Royal Canin Digest Sensitive, both dry and wet food. It was amazing - almost immediately his gut worked normally.
