I know this may be a silly question but is there anything I could give my little coblet to give her a little bit more zing? Sometimes I feel like she is lacking energy and wondered if I could be giving her something to help her there?

The yard I keep her at feed her so I don't really know exactly what they are giving her but do know that if she starts to act at all "fiesty" they always mention cutting back on her feed. In my opinion though she is never fiesty or fiesty enough to cause any problems.

I just worry that she is lacking energy sometimes and is tired.

Sorry I sound like a complete idiot but any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are plenty of High Energy feeds & competition mixes out there but you need to ask yourself if this is what you should be feeding your horse, and quite probably if she isn't doing the work to warrant it then the answer is no as you could be doing more harm than good. You need to also bear in mind that energy equals calories so anything high energy will also pile on weight if she doesn't burn the food off.

However my cob x was feeling a little flat a while ago so I spoke to Baileys who recommended their competition mix in very small amounts. This did work although I only fed it for the short term and then returned her to her normal ration.

Your best bet is to speak to a nutritionist on one of the feed carelines, someone like Baileys, Spillers etc as they are best qualified to help you.

How about talking to the yard staff who are feeding her? Probably best to find out what she's having first. :)

Thanks for that. Yes you are of course right I should talk to the yard first and see what they are giving her. I will give that a try first.
