Food help for a senior dog??

Hoping someone in here could help me (on behalf of my mum)

We have a 9yr old huskyxGSD, he is currently on Pets at Home Senior dry dog food (gravy or the chicken flavour)


But he has started not eating it unless my mum puts some cooked chicken drumstick with it, and only then does he pick out the chicken bits. His appetite is very up and down?

Can we have some suggestions as to what may be the best thing to feed him, mum mentioned she fed him Hills tinned dog food for dogs recovering from gastro entorisis as he was very poorly the other weekend and he scoffed this up, but now he is 'recovered' mum has put him back on his dry dog food diet.

My only suggestion was he obviously prefers meat to dry food??

He he. Sounds as if he is trying to tell your Mum something. My dogs get Proplan dry food which has a high percentage of meat in but I mix in a tin of dog meat. They wolf it down.

Thanks mattilda, i think his palette has grown more and more refined as he has aged!
