After my farrier put my horses shoe back on last Monday [which he lost 3 days after it was shod] he must have put a nail in too close and he was lame by the afternoon. He came back out and removed the nail but he got worse and the farrier was away so I called the vet who took off the shoe and scraped the foot but didn't dig any out. I was told to poultice and tub in epsom salts which I did. On Saturday he was really bad and I called the vet and farrier again but both said to keep poulticing and give alittle bute. Today the farrier has come out and opened the foot a little and now put on a dry animalintex which is to be left on until Wednesday then he said take it off and he thinks he will be able to put a shoe on Friday!
What do you think, he is entered for the intro champs a week on Saturday. He is not having any antibiotics [ they don't seem to give them for foot abcess anymore.
Do you think he has any chance of going to champs, he is still very lame?
