foot abcess

my horse has got an infection under his frog - you can actually peel bits of his frog away

vet seems to think an abcess has burst and come through his skin there. he's got to keep his hooves dry and plenty of blue spray applied. how do you think he may have got an abcess there? any thing else i can do to make him more comfortable?
he has had 3rd bloods taken for liver disease today - vet going to go through them with me tomorrow - keeping my fingers crossed we can come up with something productive.

I don't think there's any rhyme or reason for where absesses pop out - the infection could have travelled in the foot. He'll be fine - just follow what the vet says.
