Hello All,

I have an illness which means my boy will be off work for about 6 months. I decided to have his shoes removed due to cost and a waste if he is just in the field.
This was about 6 wks ago and he is still very foot sore. He is walking so slowly to the field, but once in there seems OK. He is then brought in at night and again very gingerly.

has anyone had this experience? If so did they improve over time?

Maybe I need to get his front shoes put back on, but not sure if I should wait for him to toughen up. This is the first time in 6 years that he has had no shoes

thanks
A

Hi Annbal

From this post http://barefoothorseblog.blogspot.com/2010/09/ouchiness-several-hours-post-shoe.html

points 1,2,6,7,8,9 may apply to your horse.

This post might help http://barefoothorseblog.blogspot.com/2010/09/flat-feet-using-detec3t.html or maybe this one http://barefoothorseblog.blogspot.com/2010/08/detect-and-couple-of-pointers-for.html

And for how the hoof can change http://barefoothorseblog.blogspot.com/2010/02/barefoot-hoof-building-concavity.html

Post photos of your horses feet - that might give some clues.

Hope you get better and feel better soon
